On top of being an undergraduate teacher, IGlobal also allows undergraduates to pursue research opportunities during their time in the program. Whether you are a James Scholar, Campus Honors student, or simply curious about educational research, IGlobal offers the space, mentorship, and flexibility to explore questions about topics such as global education, co-teaching, digital learning, and equity in the classroom. This is a great way to get involved in entry-level undergraduate research and add to your future resume/CV!
In the past, IGlobal undergraduates have studied topics like:
Exploring the Impact of Student Camera Use on Teacher Confidence in Facilitating Online Collaboration
Investigating How Co-Teaching Influences Teacher Identity Formation and Challenges Traditional Notions of the “Ideal” Educator
Examining Strategies International Schools Use to Overcome Barriers to Meaningful Global Collaboration
Understanding the Role of Creative Practice in Developing Global Competency Within International School Contexts
Undergraduates in IGlobal who pursue research will be invited to present their findings at the University of Illinois Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) at the Illini Union in April. The symposium is a day-long event that features many poster and oral presentations.
On April 24th, 2025, two groups of IGlobal undergraduate teachers presented their research projects at the University of Illinois Undergraduate Research Symposium.
These presentations were the culmination of months of hard work. Congratulations to our undergraduate researchers!
Please contact Dr. Jacob Neal Minniear, IGlobal Program Coordinator, for more information and for instructions on how to get started.
