Preparing Students to Teach and Lead in a Diverse, Globally Connected World

It has never been more important for educators and other professionals engaged in the field of education to be globally conscious and equipped to instill global competency in their own students. Through engagement with international students, institutional partnerships, on-campus international programming, study abroad opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students, and research with visiting scholars, we prepare globally conscious citizens, teachers, administrators, researchers, and policymakers who are ready to confront the global challenges and embrace the worldwide possibilities of our time.

We invite you to attend the 2021 Illinois State K-12 CS Education Summit! We have another great line-up planned this year, including:

  • Keynote Speaker Simon Peyton Jones of Microsoft;
  • 10 great panel discussions on a variety of CS Education topics such as:
    • AI and Education
    • Quantum and Education
    • The new Illinois K-12 CS Education Standards
    • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
    • The Role of Teachers in Education Policy, and more!
  • Our first Fireside Chat with a team from Scratch Foundation!
  • We are also thrilled to partner with Cobbleston Collective to bring you a free, statewide coding event for ALL Illinois 4th–8th grade educators! Here are details:

"Join us on Wednesday, September 22 from 11 a.m. to noon as we learn to code alongside Googlers using CS First. Together, we’ll learn about the importance of computer science and start coding our first program using CS First: Code Your Own Hero!

You and your class will also receive a second coding lesson to use in the future, whenever it fits with your class schedule. The second coding lesson explores music and sound.

The best part? No prep work or coding experience is required! We’ll facilitate the lesson, guide your students where they need to be, and answer any questions along the way!"

Please make plans to join us for this virtual conference. Links for registration and more information below. Help advertise the 2021 Illinois State K-12 CS Education Summit by forwarding this notice to your colleagues!
