Preparing Students to Teach and Lead in a Diverse, Globally Connected World

It has never been more important for educators and other professionals engaged in the field of education to be globally conscious and equipped to instill global competency in their own students. Through engagement with international students, institutional partnerships, on-campus international programming, study abroad opportunities for both graduate and undergraduate students, and research with visiting scholars, we prepare globally conscious citizens, teachers, administrators, researchers, and policymakers who are ready to confront the global challenges and embrace the worldwide possibilities of our time.

Academic Excellence (ACE) Series: The Process and Craft of Writing a Journal Article

Champaign , USA
Room 192 Education

Room 192 Education

Event Type: Conference/Workshop

Speaker Information: Professor Jennifer Nelson

This 1-hour workshop will use materials from Wendy Belcher’s ‘Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks’ workbook and resources to advance your academic writing. I will open by talking about how it’s improved my own writing. Topics covered will include: addressing writing habits and anxieties; strategies for polishing each section of your article (or, dissertation if you want to adapt lessons here to your dissertation writing); common errors authors make when submitting articles; and how to address reviewers’ (or advisors’) comments in your revisions. If possible, come with a paper in mind that you would like to discuss.
